Bruno Rodríguez, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, met on Friday with members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) of New York City, a political and activist organization with a socialist ideology in the United States.
Cuba’s top diplomat reported on his X social media account that during the meeting they discussed current events in Cuba, the United States and the world.
“I told them about our intense agenda at the High-Level Segment of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the ongoing denunciation of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the blockade against our people, and the military deployment in the Caribbean Sea against Venezuela,” he stated.
Also on X, DSA members called for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the US government on Cuba, and assured that it would be for the benefit of the citizens of both nations.
“With Cuba’s current economic crisis and its worsening by the United States, we call for an end to the blockade against Cuba. The workers, families, and citizens of both countries would greatly benefit from a relationship based on mutual respect and open dialogue between our nations.”
The meeting between Bruno Rodríguez and DSA members took place at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations and was attended by Carlos Fernández de Cossío, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
