As part of the Government Program to correct distortions and revitalize the economy, we continue working towards achieving our energy sovereignty, stated Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, on Saturday.
Through his official account on the social network X and using the hashtag #CubaWillOvercome, the head of government expressed that in recent days there have been many stories of families and vital centers benefiting from the installation of photovoltaic systems.
Marrero Cruz specified that these actions are complemented by the expansion of tax benefits for investments in renewable energy sources, referring to the recent Resolution 41 of 2026 from the Ministry of Finance and Prices, which exempts individuals and legal entities that import and install clean technologies from paying customs duties and income tax, with the aim of accelerating the energy transition.
He noted that thermoelectric plants continue to receive domestic crude oil, as part of the strategies to guarantee electricity generation amidst the limitations imposed by the tightening of the U.S. embargo and the executive order that seeks to prevent the entry of fuels into the country.
“Cubans, as always, rise to the challenge in the face of difficulties and will continue to find solutions to move forward,” emphasized Marrero Cruz, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba.
