Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, has called in Villa Clara to banish apathy and lack of concern, fostering greater engagement with the people.
In the concluding meeting on the tour he conducted this Wednesday to address economic and social objectives in the Villa Clara municipalities of Remedios and Caibarién, Díaz-Canel urged a transformation of work methods and styles, with the goal of achieving better results.
He cited the achievements of the places he visited amidst complex circumstances and highlighted the situation of the Remedios Canning Company, which diversified its production and adapted its production cycles.
The president, accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee, also mentioned the success of a cooperative project with retailers, which successfully delivered products to warehouses and revived a previously abandoned commercial structure.
He emphasized the need to seek sustainable agricultural projects with community impact, where people directly perceive the benefits, and the importance of transformation through science and innovation, creating projects to migrate to renewable energy sources in municipalities.
Morales Ojeda emphasized the importance of motivating the new generations, given the potential they represent for the country’s development, and addressed the internal life of the Party, cadre policy, and the necessary attention to young people.
In this regard, he referred to the functioning of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) in workplaces and the work of political and mass organizations.
Present at the meeting were Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the PCC in Villa Clara; Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas, provincial governor; and representatives from various organizations.
Ovidio Gómez González, first secretary of the PCC in Remedios, presented strategies for addressing the health situation and the work system for serving members.
The first secretary of the PCC in Caibarién, Odelvis Luis Vázquez, explained that a group of companies in the area are working on solid waste collection, while others are working on the comprehensive transformation of their surroundings, contributing to the community.
The Ministry of Tourism Delegation and the Gaviota Business Group are providing comprehensive care to wards at the municipal hospital, he added.
He also detailed the complex solid waste collection process in the coastal municipality and the water supply situation, affected by extended cycles due to turbine failures.
Hermes Germán Aguilera Pérez, first secretary of the UJC provincial committee in this central region, outlined strategies for work in educational institutions, the objective of which is to strengthen the organization in conjunction with the General Directorate of Education in Villa Clara.
