Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanks China for rejecting U.S order against Cuba

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has thanked China for its support in the face of the escalating US economic blockade against Cuba, formalized with a recent executive order from President Donald Trump.

The Cuban Foreign Minister highlighted the rejection by the Party, Government, and people of the Asian giant of this measure, which, he emphasized, seeks to criminally block the entry of oil to the Caribbean island.

In his message on X, Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the statements of Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, who affirmed at a press conference that his country firmly supports Cuba in the defense of its sovereignty and national security.

The diplomat also expressed China’s rejection of foreign interference, as well as its opposition to the deprivation of the Cuban people’s right to survival and development.

This Thursday, January 29, the US president signed an executive order declaring a so-called “national emergency” to impose tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba.

A statement from the Cuban Revolutionary Government asserts that with this decision, the White House, through blackmail, threats, and direct coercion of third countries, is attempting to add further pressure to the economic strangulation measures already in place to prevent the entry of fuel.

It also states that the measure constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and undermines the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
