The National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, Gerardo Hernández, welcomed the members of the sailboats of the Nuestra América Solidarity Convoy to Cuba.
Upon receiving them at the Havana Cruise Terminal, the Hero of the Republic told them that they had arrived in a country under siege and suffering from shortages of medicine, food, and electricity, but also full of love, peace, solidarity, and gratitude toward them.
The vessels, which set sail from Isla Mujeres, Mexico, on March 21 to participate in the initiative launched by the Nuestra América Convoy, carried nine activists of various nationalities.
The group’s leader, Adnaan Stumo, from the United States, explained to the press that the journey was delayed because they had to detour due to bad weather and change their route several times.
He also affirmed that Cuba can count on the solidarity of the world’s people, and that they will fight against the maximum pressure policy imposed on it by the United States.
“After concluding my visit to this beautiful island, I will go to Spain to prepare another global flotilla to go to Gaza.”
Of the members of the convoy, five are French, including a four-year-old girl, two are from the United States, one is from Germany, and one is from the Netherlands.
These activists brought medical supplies and food to share with the Cuban people as a show of solidarity and as a way to break the United States’ blockade of the island.
