Laina Pérez Delivers Best Cuban Performance at World Shooting Competition

Havana, November 14 (RHC) -The Cuban shooting team that competed in the World Rifle and Pistol Championships in Cairo, Egypt, concluded its participation in the competition this Thursday with a strong performance from Laina Pérez.

In the 25-meter pistol event, the multi-medalist from the Pan American and Central American Games achieved a cumulative score of 282 in accuracy and 295 in rapid fire, for a total of 577. With this result, the athlete from Matanzas placed 37th out of 85 competitors.

Her performance was the second-highest score of the competition for a shooter from the Americas, surpassed only by American Katelyn Morgan (582).

Laina also significantly improved her performance in the previous edition of this event, held in Baku in 2013. There, the Cuban athlete finished in 71st place with 570 points.

In the final round of the test, Jiin Yang, from South Korea (40), was crowned, followed by Qianxun Yao, from China (38), and Esha Sing, from India (30).
