Havana, December 22 (RHC) – Napoli won the Italian Super Cup today for the third time in their history, beating Bologna 2-0 in the final with a brace from Brazilian winger David Neres.
Neres found the back of the net in the 39th and 57th minutes to give the Neapolitan club another title, having previously won the competition in 1990 and 2014.
The Italian champions put behind them the two defeats they suffered before this tournament: against Benfica (0-2) in Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League and then against Udinese (0-1) in Serie A.
In the Super Cup semifinals, Napoli defeated the defending champions, AC Milan, also by a score of 2-0.
The Neapolitans completely dominated the first half and had several clear chances through Macedonian Elif Elmas, Briton Scott McTominay, and Leonardo Spinazzola before Neres opened the scoring with a powerful shot from about 25 meters.
The South American added to the tally and sealed the victory with his second goal of the match in the second half.
