La Cruz (90 kg) and Álvarez (65 kg) will arrive at the regional competition, scheduled for the 11th through the 16th of next month, bolstered by their recent titles at the 45th Independence Cup of Boxing, held the previous week in the Dominican city of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Another champion from that tournament, Saidel Horta (60 kg), is also among the seven boxers under the guidance of head trainer Eulises Pouyout.

The national team is completed by Alejandro Claro (55 kg), Yunier Sorsano (70 kg), Keilor García (80 kg), and Fernando Arzola (+90 kg), all aiming to secure a spot in each weight division for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo.

According to information released by the sports outlet JIT, the men will compete for 11 spots in the 55, 60, and 65 kg weight classes, as well as nine in the 70 kg class, and seven in the 80, 90, and over 90 kg weight classes.

Cuban boxers will attempt to surpass their performance from three years ago in San Salvador at the Central American Games in Santo Domingo, scheduled for July 24 to August 8. At that time, they won two gold medals, two silver medals, and five bronze medals.
