Havana, December 17 (RHC) – Real Madrid defeated Talavera De La Reina three goals to two today and advanced to the round of 16 in the Copa del Rey in Spanish football.
Frenchman Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute from the penalty spot, an own goal by Manu Farrando (45+1) doubled the lead, and the French striker himself added a third in the 88th minute, while Nahuel Arroyo (80) and Argentine Gonzalo Di Renzo (90+1) sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid also defeated Atlético Baleares 3-2 with two goals from Frenchman Antoine Griezmann and one from Italian Giacomo Raspadori.
The biggest surprise came from Racing Santander, who beat Villarreal, currently third in the Spanish league, 2-1.
In other results, Cultural Leonesa eliminated Levante 1-0, Osasuna defeated Huesca 4-2, Albacete beat Celta de Vigo on penalties after a 2-2 draw, and Alavés edged out Sevilla 1-0.
