The 108th National Football League Closing Tournament Has Begun

Havana, October 23 (RHC) – The Clausura Tournament of the 108th National Football League kicked off with victories from Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba

The southerners defeated Las Tunas 3-0 in the first leg of, which is being held at the Antonio Maceo Stadium in untamed territory.

Reinier Cerdeira opened the scoring in the 10th minute, giving the reigning national champions a lead at halftime.

In the second half, Frank del Valle (56′) and Erik Revilla (62′) put the final score on the scoreboard and managed to overcome Las Tunas, who finished with 10 men after Bryan Paumier was sent off and received his second yellow card in the 84th minute.

The Diablos Rojos of Santiago de Cuba defeated Havana 3-2. Brayan Torres opened the scoring for the home team in the 9th minute, Cristian León scored the second in the 28th minute, and Pedro Bryan Ortiz made it 3-0 in the second minute of added time.

There was still time for another goal in the first half, as Dayron Reyes García pulled one back for the Apertura champions in the fifth minute of added time.

The capital team tried to come back in the second half, but Rey Antúnez’s goal in the 75th minute proved insufficient.

Before that match, Guantánamo and Villa Clara tied at 1-1: Kelvin Castañeda (24′) for Expreso del Centro and Randy Valier (30′) for Titanes del Guaso, both scoring on penalties.

This Thursday will be a rest day, and the matches resume on Friday with Cienfuegos-Havana, Villa Clara-Las Tunas, and Santiago de Cuba-Guantánamo.
