“Nora” was made with love and effort, and I hope it will be received that way, expressed the renowned Cuban actor and director Roly Peña, minutes before the premiere at the Sauto Theater in Matanzas, of the feature film he directed, which tells the story of a Cuban secret agent.

In a packed theater, Peña also expressed his gratitude to the political and government authorities in the province of Matanzas, as well as “many other people” who provided support during filming in municipalities such as Cárdenas, Ciénaga de Zapata, and the provincial capital.

The initial intention was to hold the premiere in Matanzas, given its importance to the work of the entire team. Ultimately, it took place in Havana, but we never lost hope of doing it there, and here we are today, stated the leader of renowned television projects in the Caribbean nation, such as the youth series Enigma de un Verano (2001) and Coco Verde (2003), among others.

Alongside Peña was a group from Nora’s production team, headed by Ingrid Lobaina, who played the lead role, and other popular actors such as Carlos Luis González and Reytel Oro, in a production whose script was written by the prestigious Amílcar Salatti.

Also attending the film’s first screening outside the capital were Mario Sabines Lorenzo, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas province, and Marieta Poey Zamora, Governor of the western province, as well as cultural officials, officers from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), and members of the public.

Nora, based on a true story, tells the tale of a Cuban secret agent who, under a false identity, managed to infiltrate the inner circles of violent organizations responsible for planning and carrying out acts of terror against Cuba for decades.

The plot unfolds when, after the discovery of the “Wasp” infiltration network, the protagonist must return to the island before her cover is exposed, and her life is endangered.

More than just a spy thriller, the film stands as a cinematic testament that seeks to bring to light the harsh reality of these organizations and reveal the other side of an undeclared war, where the courage and ingenuity of anonymous men and women become the nation’s main bulwark.
