Havana, December 15 (RHC) – The iconic Ciudad Deportiva will host the traditional San Silvestre race on December 31st, organized by the Havana sports department, with technical support from the National Commission of Races and Walks Marabana-Maracuba (CNCCMM).

The event, part of the celebrations for the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, will take place along Vía Blanca, Primelles, Santa Catalina, and Boyeros avenues, starting and finishing in the facility’s parking lot.
The official distance will be 10 kilometers, to be covered in five laps following the direction of traffic. The preparations have been excellent, and we expect a large turnout, stated Carlos Gattorno, director of the CNCCMM.
The race is scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m., with the official start time one hour prior. Race bibs will be those of Marabana 2025 and will be valid for all registered runners.
The organizers will provide drinking water at the start and finish lines; however, each participant is also welcome to bring their own. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category, as well as to the winners from associations of people with disabilities.

Special prizes will also be awarded to encourage massive participation. “In Cuba, the San Silvestre race is a symbol of endurance and sporting joy,” Gattorno emphasized.

This event will close the 2025 race calendar, a year marked by races that reaffirmed the vitality of long-distance running, including Marabana, Maracuba, the Mandela Race, the traditional Cacahual-Ciudad Deportiva, and the Ideal Olímpico, all of which are characterized by high participation.

Cuba’s premier footrace, Marabana, will celebrate its 40th edition in November 2026, an event that will mark a milestone in its field.
