Tigers Repeat the Dose Against the Marlins in the MLB

by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, April 11 (RHC) – The Detroit Tigers defeated the Miami Marlins for the second consecutive day, today with a score of 6-1, in the continuation of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season.

As hosts at Comerica Park, the Tigers, who defeated their opponents 2-0 yesterday, got their bats going early to take a decisive lead, secure their sixth win of the season, and maintain fourth place in the American League Central Division.

A double by Colt Keith and a single by Riley Green drove in the first two runs for the home team in the first inning.

In the third, Green sealed the game with a three-run homer off a pitch from the losing starter, Janson Junk.

Spencer Torkelson, with Anthony Bender on the mound, singled in the eighth to drive in the sixth run and cap the winners’ scoring.

The win went to right-hander Casey Mize, who pitched 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and allowed only one run, driven in by a sacrifice fly from Connor Norby.

The Marlins, who were leading the National League East a couple of days ago, now have an 8-7 record and have fallen one and a half games behind the league-leading Atlanta Braves, who will play tonight against the Cleveland Guardians.
