The National Assembly (AN) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Monday declared the 32 Cubans killed in combat during the criminal attack perpetrated by the United States government on January 3rd as Heroes and Martyrs of the Nation.

After announcing the resolution, Pedro Infante, First Vice President of the AN, highlighted the “infinite superiority in morality, valor, courage, and dignity” of the Cubans, who faced an enemy superior in resources, technology, and numbers, the Cuban Foreign Ministry website noted.

“I want to express above all our admiration for our Cuban and Venezuelan combatants who, with great dignity, courage, and bravery, stood up to the invader, faced them head-on, and fought despite overwhelming inferiority in terms of military technology and air superiority,” he stated.

At the Cuban Embassy in Caracas, Rander Peña, Executive Secretary of the Alliance of the Peoples of Our America-Free Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), expressed the sentiments of the peoples and governments that make up the regional bloc.

“Today they become beings of light who will continue to be a beacon guiding us through the daily battle, the ongoing struggle. To them, honor and glory! To their families, our deepest condolences, our love, our commitment, and our admiration for each and every one of them, because they raised brave, good, and admirable men,” he remarked.

The Cuban ambassador to Venezuela, Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández, said he “received this agreement from the Venezuelan National Assembly with great emotion and satisfaction.”

“We received it on behalf of the Cuban people, their families, the mothers, wives, and children of the 32 comrades who fell in combat against imperialism. We have reiterated to all the comrades who have visited us our unwavering commitment,” the diplomat emphasized.
