Venezuela denounces CIA false flag operation from Trinidad and Tobago

by Ed Newman

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil denounced that the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is conducting a false flag operation from Trinidad and Tobago to justify a military aggression against his country. Gil clearly informed the Trinidadian government about the plan, which would involve attacking a US military ship stationed on the island and then blaming Venezuela and triggering a confrontation.

The top diplomat pointed out that on Venezuelan territory, “a CIA-funded criminal cell linked to this covert operation is being dismantled” and demanded that Trinidad and Tobago act with the same responsibility.

“We hope that Trinidad and Tobago will do the same and not allow its territory to be used for maneuvers that threaten the peace of the Caribbean,” the foreign minister said in an official statement.

According to Gil, this is the “same imperial script as the Maine ship and the Gulf of Tonkin,” tactics that consist of fabricating a conflict to impose interests alien to the Caribbean region.

The Venezuelan foreign minister made a direct appeal to the island nation’s prime minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, urging her to assume her responsibility to the Caribbean and to history.

“Either you stand on the side of peace or you sink into the CIA’s agenda,” asserted Gil, who reaffirmed that Venezuela will not fall for provocations, but will defend its sovereignty “without hesitation.”

The Venezuelan foreign minister expressed his respect for the people of Trinidad and Tobago and his confidence that their conscience will prevent the country from being dragged into “a dirty war operation.”

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounced this Sunday the conduct of military exercises in Trinidad and Tobago. The Venezuelan government reported that these exercises are coordinated by the CIA and financed by the United States Southern Command, with the aim of provoking an armed confrontation on Venezuelan soil.

Sources from the Ministry of Defense reported the capture of a mercenary group that had received instructions and information from US intelligence regarding an imminent false flag attack. The objective, they assert, would be to generate a scenario of controlled war that would justify new sanctions, diplomatic isolation, and military action in the Caribbean oil zone.

The Bolivarian Government reiterated its commitment to peace, truth, and sovereignty and warned that any attempt at aggression will receive a proportional and forceful response, in defense of the right of peoples to self-determination.

False flag operations have been used at various times in history as a pretext to initiate armed conflicts or justify foreign interventions.

One of the most cited cases is the sinking of the battleship USS Maine in Havana Bay in 1898, an event that served as the trigger for the Spanish-American War, after which Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines came under U.S. control.

Another precedent was the Gulf of Tonkin incident, which occurred in 1964, when Washington denounced an alleged attack by North Vietnamese forces against U.S. ships. This led the United States Congress to pass the resolution that expanded the Vietnam War, although years later it was shown that the initial reports were exaggerated or false.
