Venezuelans continue to denounce the military attack carried out by the U.S. military on January 3rd — two weeks ago — and the kidnapping of the presidential couple, an act of aggression that represents a fatal blow to international law.
The Trump Administration’s chain of crimes and illegal actions began with extrajudicial killings in lethal attacks against vessels in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, continued with the air embargo and naval blockade against Venezuela, and culminated in the military aggression and bombings of January 3 against Caracas and other locations in the country, in which approximately one hundred Venezuelan military personnel and civilians and 32 Cuban collaborators were killed, and President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores were kidnapped and taken to the United States.
Since the date of the vile attack, thousands of people in all regions of the world have joined the outcry of Venezuelans, who are leading a continuous mobilization demanding the release of their leaders, expressing their support for Interim President Delcy Rodríguez, who is continuing the work and agenda of the constitutional president, and asserting their sense of sovereignty and self-determination in the face of US interventionist ambitions.
In the mobilizations of various sectors, Venezuela’s spirit of peace has been reaffirmed alongside the indignation at the US siege and aggression, and the determination to continue building the nation under the principles of the Bolivarian Revolution and the legacy of Bolívar, Commander Hugo Chávez, and President Nicolás Maduro, continued in the daily work of the government led by Delcy Rodríguez.
