Tel Aviv, July 14 (RHC)-- An Israeli soldier has committed suicide in a settlement in the occupied West Bank, amid the occupying regime’s intensified atrocities against Palestinians.
Israeli media reports said that a 30-year-old reservist was found dead from a gunshot wound in the “Tapuach” settlement in the northern West Bank, amid information suggesting he had committed suicide.
This came as Israel has intensified its attacks in Tulkarm, Jenin and other parts of the occupied West Bank since January.
Earlier, Israel’s newspaper Haaretz said another soldier, a member of the Golani Brigade, committed suicide at the Sde Teiman military base in the southern part of the occupied territories after returning from fighting in the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, the soldier — whose close friend was killed in an explosion in Gaza last month — had left the besieged strip to rest at a military base but was later questioned by military police. While his weapon was confiscated, the soldier shot himself with the gun of a sleeping friend.
Another reserve soldier took his own life in a forest near the northern city of Safed on Sunday due to psychological problems from atrocities committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli media, an increasing number of the regime’s soldiers have committed suicide since the start of the genocidal war in Gaza in October 2023. The figure has so far exceeded 40 soldiers.
Last year, 21 soldiers took their own lives, while over 14 have already been recorded in the first half of 2025. The Israeli military, according to Haaretz, has confirmed that about 1,600 soldiers have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since the beginning of 2024, and about 250 soldiers have been discharged over mental health-related issues.
