Brasilia, May 16 (RHC)-- Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with leaders from Brazil's social movements and trade union organizations in an effort to create a new “broad front” to resist the parliamentary coup that saw democratically-elected President Dilma Rouseff ousted from power.

According to reports from the Brazilian capital, two political fronts already exist in the country -- "People Without Fear" and "Popular Brazil" -- but while they occasionally hold joint events, the two fronts do not organize together due to political differences.

There are indications that with the coup and the current political climate, differences between the groups may be set aside.

Over the weekend, Lula da Silva also met with leaders from Brazil's two major trade union confederations, the CUT and CTB.
