Havana, Jun 7 (JIT) - Cuban Raidel Martinez got his 21st rescue of the season on Saturday in the Yomiuri Giants' 2-0 win over the Rakuten Eagles in the Japanese Professional Baseball League 2025.
At the Tokyo Dome, the speedy right-hander from Pinar del Río allowed one hit with no runs in one inning of relief, to keep his effectiveness at 0.00 inning after 25 appearances from the bullpen.
Raidel, who with this performance added his ninth consecutive save, was able to tie once again the points leader in the Central League for games saved with Shinya Matsuyama, of the Chunichi Dragons.
So far, he has worked 23.2 innings, with 13 hits, 22 strikeouts, and only six walks.
In addition, his fruitful performances, summarized in one win and 21 saves, have allowed him to intervene in 22 of the 29 wins of Yomiuri, which is in fourth place in the standings in its circuit.
Last season, Raidel led the entire Japanese championship with 43 saves from the Chunichi Dragons squad.
