Mexico City, May 4 (RHC)-- The 29th National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba was held this Saturday and Sunday in Mexico City, with the purpose of demonstrating support for the island and demanding an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Convened by the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the two-day event included an official opening, as well as the lecture "Cuba: 66 Years of Resistance and Dignity," given by the writer, historian, and journalist from the Caribbean nation, Raúl Antonio Capote.
In the afternoon session on Saturday, Lil María Pichs, Deputy Director of Coordination of the Martí Program Office, presented "Challenges of Cuban Youth in the Face of Subversive War," and attendees of the event, held at the Futurama Cultural Center in Havana, took part in a panel discussions.
On Sunday, there was a screening of the documentary "Slavery that Liberates You," and Elier Ramírez, Deputy Director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center on the island, gave a lecture on "BRICS, CELAC, ALBA: Multilateralism as a Response to Imperialism."
The event announcement, released several days ago, stated that "the escalation of imperialist aggression" against the Caribbean nation "begins a new chapter with the change of administration in the United States government," now headed by Donald Trump.
“It is once again evident that, regardless of partisan affiliation, their objective remains the same: to annihilate the social project emanating from the Cuban Revolution,” it denounces.
In the organization's opinion, the Caribbean nation will not face an easy path with the return of the Republican administration, and the severe shortcomings of more than 60 years of siege will continue to hinder the well-being of its people.
Furthermore, “the world must now confront the unstoppable and shameless expansionist desire of the United States with its threats of military and economic interventions against those who dare to contradict its imperial designs.”
Therefore, it emphasized, today more than ever, Cuba represents a beacon of hope for humanity. (Prensa Latina)
