New York, June 12 (RHC)-- As the protests in Los Angeles against ICE agents and President Trump take a violent turn, New York City, among other cities across the US, began their own solidarity stand with protesters in Los Angeles.
Protesters took over the streets facing federal courthouse to demand ICE stop its campaign against immigrants and workers in New York. Protesters and speakers called out the Trump administration for enforcing fascist policies against the people as they held signs acknowledging that America is made of immigrants.
One banner illustrated the common struggle of the Palestinians and the Native Americans under the imperialist regimes of the U.S. and its allies.
One protester told reporters: "Clearly, what's going on is abnormal. They are real ...violations of law and rights and human rights. And I'm glad that there are people here to say something about it."
In Los Angeles, protests erupted after mass arrests during immigration raids in heavily Latino neighborhoods, with the Trump administration aiming for the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.
Another protester said: "America is heavily militarized, the implications and the impact that they've had globally is incredible, and people need to understand the type of impact and message that America sends. And for them to start spreading this hate filled regime where they're deporting immigrants, obviously, people who built this country. I mean, all of us come from immigrant families."
The deployment of U.S. Marines and the National Guard in Los Angeles has angered protesters in New York who have now launched their own series of protests against ICE.
