Caracas, November 5 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Venezuelan National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello revealed on Thursday new links between officials from the U.S. Embassy in Caracas and destabilization plans undertaken by the right-wing opposition in that country. Cabello said this conspiracy comes ahead of the upcoming December 6th parliamentary elections, in which the opposition coalition “Democratic Unity Roundtable,” or MUD will have no more options but to claim fraud and call for violent actions. Evidence presented by Cabello includes recent meetings between right-wing opposition leaders with top diplomats of the U.S. Embassy, including the representative of the Department of Political Affairs Rita Buck and the Chargé d'Affaires Lee McClenny. According to Venezuela's Act of Foreign Diplomatic Officials, representatives of other countries enjoy certain privileges and immunity, however they also have to respect and stay away from the internal politics of the host state. They also have to cooperate with the government to guarantee the stability and peace of the country where they reside. U.S. diplomats in Venezuela have previously interfered in the internal affairs of the country and conspired with the opposition in destabilization plans as the coup attempt against late President Hugo Chavez in 2002. Several Washington officials have been expelled due to similar reasons. The government of President Nicolas Maduro has undertaken several efforts to guarantee peace in the country during and after the December 6th elections. He proposed all political forces sign an agreement to recognize the election results, however the right-wing leaders rejected the idea.
