Caracas, September 15 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez is in Venezuela to participate today and tomorrow in a political debate entitled “Peace, Sovereignty and Independence”, as part of the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The ministerial meeting precedes the 17th Summit of Heads of State, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
“Non-alignment has huge historic merits, and also remains fully valid,” the top Cuban diplomat said on arriving to Margarita Island. Referring to the issues to be discussed during the multinational event he said: “We must defend independence, sovereignty and self-determination, through unity and consensus.”
Minister Rodríguez sent a revolutionary, anti-imperialist embrace to the Venezuelan government and people, and wished Caracas well in its presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement, which it will assume during the Summit.
