Havana, January 31 (RHC) -- The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, met on Thursday with Nicolas Maduro, President of Venezuela.
An official report stated that both leaders discussed topics related to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the most perilous threats to humanity such as war, food shortages, extreme poverty and climate change.
Fidel Castro and Maduro also talked about the advancement of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela and Cuba’s cooperation in key areas such as health, sports and education.
The leaders recalled the legacy and example of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, noting his untiring efforts to create and consolidate CELAC in favor of Latin American and Caribbean integration and prosperity.
Also on Thursday, Fidel Castro received Suriname’s President Desiré Delano Bouterse, with whom he held an animated dialogue on bilateral and world issues.
