Havana, April 8 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, upon receiving the Angolan Minister of State Adão Francisco Correia de Almeida, who is on an official visit to the Caribbean country, said:  "On behalf of the Army General, the President, and the Government, I ratify Cuba's eternal commitment to Angola and the importance of continuing to expand bilateral relations. We will never fail our history, and Angola is part of that history."

Marrero Cruz welcomed the visitor at the seat of the Government of the Republic, in the Palace of the Revolution, where he evoked the historical ties that unite the two nations, built on principles defended by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, such as internationalism, the struggle for equality among peoples and against racial discrimination.

In addition to the bonds of friendship and political rapport, the Prime Minister added, we are also linked by economic and commercial ties with many possibilities to be exploited, which is why we must continue to develop them.

The broad Cuban medical collaboration in that African country, the training of health professionals here, and the relevance that the largest of the Antilles attaches to the identification of new areas for trade exchange, the promotion of inter-company relations and investment, with emphasis on the agri-food, mining, and energy sectors, were other topics addressed during the meeting.

The Cuban head of government also referred to the development of the 15th edition of the Intergovernmental Commission between Cuba and Angola, which concluded on Friday, after two days of sessions in Havana, and whose results can give new impetus to economic and trade ties.

Adão Francisco Correia, who also serves as head of the Civil House of the Angolan Presidency and co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission, affirmed that Cuba continues to be a strategic ally for Angola.

"The relationship that exists between the two countries has a markedly special character because of the help that Cuba gave Angola to achieve its independence and preserve the integrity of its territory is invaluable to us."

According to the Angolan Minister of State, "It is thanks to Cuba's support and presence that we have managed to reach the point where we are today, and no one will ever forget that. If we are counting on Cuba to overcome some of our current challenges, it is precisely because of the role played by Cubans in the development of our country".
