Havana, October 13 (RHC) – Multi-time champion Suslaidis Giralt leads the Cuban delegation to the 25th Deaflympic Games, which will be held in Japan from November 17 to 26.

Giralt, a champion at the Olympic Games in Taipei 2007 (long jump and 100 meters), Sofia 2013 (100 meters), Samsung 2017 (triple jump), and Brazil 2022 (long jump and triple jump), will compete in all three events.

The 38-year-old veteran secured two titles for the Cuban team at the previous event, and now her goal is to secure three gold medals in Tokyo.

According to the technical director of the Cuban Paralympic Committee, Jorge Reinaldo Palma, judo could provide another top achievement, surpassing what was achieved at Brazil 2022.

Palma also highlighted that for the first time, Cuba will participate in wrestling with three representatives, whom he also sees as having a chance of competing for the podium.

However, of the entire group (31 athletes), only six of those who were in the Brazilian town of Caxias do Sul three years ago are repeating, so they will be testing themselves for the first time in a Deaflympics.
