Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa is leading his country’s delegation to the IV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States-European Union (CELAC-EU).
The summit is being held Sunday, November 9th, and Monday, the 10th, in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia.
Before the delegation’s arrival in Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba announced:
“The Cuban delegation will bring a constructive spirit and a willingness to contribute to the bi-regional mechanism, based on equality and mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation, for the benefit of all parties.”
The statement adds that Vice President Valdés Mesa will denounce “the intensification of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States against the Cuban people and the unjustified inclusion of Cuba on the unilateral list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.” The vice president’s agenda includes bilateral meetings and other activities.
The Cuban delegation also includes Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez; Vice Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez; and the Cuban Ambassador to Colombia, Javier Caamaño, among other officials.
Parallel to the IV Summit, the LAC-EU Civil Society Forum, the LAC-EU Business Forum, and the III CELAC Social Forum is taking place, spaces in which the participation of Cuban social actors is also expected, the official statement highlights.
