Havana, November 12 (RHC) – The Cuban men’s team will debut against the Dominican Republic on the first day of the second edition of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (Norceca) Under-17 Continental Championship, scheduled to take place from the 18th to the 23rd of this month at the Alexis Argüello Sports Complex in Managua, Nicaragua.
According to the website www.norceca.net, the Cubans, bronze medalists at the first edition in Veracruz in 2023, will open their campaign in Group B against the Dominican Republic, before facing the United States and Mexico (silver medalists) on the 19th and 20th, respectively.
Group A consists of Barbados, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico (gold medalists).
The organizers announced that the group winners will advance directly to the semifinals, while the second and third-place finishers will advance to the quarterfinals.
The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U17 World Championship, to be held in Doha, Qatar.
At least the NORCECA champion will secure a spot in the world championship, while the FIVB will confirm the total number of slots allocated to the NORCECA Confederation at a later date.
