The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received young people from across the country at Miraflores Palace on the occasion of Venezuelan National Student Day and called on them to join with students from the United States to form a common front for peace and against war.
“Let’s open a window with the truth about Venezuela to the United States and the world and win peace,” he emphasized. “Peace must be won,” he urged the young people present.
During the event, the president received proposals from national and international students, which were debated during the National Congress of the Venezuelan Federation of University Students.
Among these proposals was the formation of Student Peace Brigades, which the head of state asked to coordinate with North American student movements to join an international campaign under the slogan “No to War.”
In this regard, he announced the creation of a “super network” to inform young people in the United States that Venezuela has strong and well-established universities with a “powerful scientific student movement.”
He emphasized that the Venezuelan education system offers “free, high-quality public education,” with “scientific and humanistic education” and “universities with open doors for the people.”
The president asserted that youth are the future, saying, “Today, our youth is not a promise of the future; our youth is a reality of the future.”
On the other hand, President Maduro urged young people not to be manipulated and called for continued defense of the truth about Venezuela on digital platforms. “You are waging a brilliant battle on social media so that the truth about Venezuela reaches the country and beyond its borders,” the Venezuelan president stated.
During his address, Maduro rejected the term “Generation Z” and affirmed: “In Venezuela, that invention of Generation Z doesn’t exist; here, we have the brilliant generation.”
“Don’t let anyone label you. Be authentic, be rebellious, and fight for the profound revolution of humanity and for a socialist future of democratic equals, where people have their own path and young people have the right to study,” the president emphasized.
Finally, the head of state announced that the Venezuelan Student Government will be established on Monday at the national level and will have a permanent seat in the Council of Ministers.
