Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel proposed on Thursday, during the National Assembly of People’s Power, designating 2026 as the “Year of the Centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.”
The proposal, approved unanimously, constitutes a tribute to the leader and a reaffirmation of the unity of his ideas in the Cuban Revolution.
“It would not have been possible to get here without trusting in our history, and without the strong and clear conviction that arose from that meeting between the two brothers on December 18, 1956, in Cinco Palmas. Today we are also certain that this time we will win the war!” Díaz-Canel declared.
“We Cubans of today are conquerors of the impossible, and may the year 2026, the Centennial Year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, find us fighting and more united than ever.”
