Cuba’s ambassador to the African Union (AU), Lucas Domingo Hernández, has denounced the imposition and intensification of new pressure measures against the Caribbean island by the United States government.
Speaking to Ethiopian television station Hagerie TV on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly held in Addis Ababa, Hernandez emphasized the direct impact of this unilateral policy on the full development of Havana’s economic, trade, and cooperation relations with African countries.
He noted that these actions constitute an obstacle to joint initiatives in key sectors, affecting not only the Cuban people but also shared efforts for mutual benefit.
The Cuban diplomat reaffirmed Cuba’s firm commitment to continue strengthening its historic ties with Africa, based on solidarity, mutual respect, and South-South cooperation.
Furthermore, the Cuban diplomat, in sharing his impressions of the AU Summit, highlighted the spirit of unity and cooperation among the member states, as well as the importance of advancing strategic priorities for the continent.
The Cuban representative before the African Union conveyed his best wishes for the success of the deliberations and for the continued strengthening of ties between Africa and Cuba.
