Hundreds march in Barcelona in support of Cuba amid the oil blockade: You are not alone
Hundreds of people marched this Saturday through the streets of Barcelona, Spain, to show their support for Cuba and denounce the oil blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island. They also demanded an end to the coercive measures affecting the region.
During the march, participants carried flags and banners with the slogan: “Stop imperialist aggression.” Representatives of the Cuban community led the protest, describing the US sanctions as a “blockade.” “Criminal.” The protesters also pointed out that the measures directly affect the sovereignty of Latin American nations.
In this regard, one of the demonstrators stated, “We are here today denouncing the attack on Cuba’s sovereignty, denouncing the attack on the nations of Latin America by the United States government.” He further warned that vulnerable sectors are endangered by these arbitrary decisions.
“The most vulnerable people—children, the elderly, and pregnant women—are in danger every day because of this criminal and arbitrary measure,” he said.
The march concluded in front of the diplomatic offices. There, the organizers read a joint manifesto in defense of self-determination and regional peace. In this way, the group reaffirmed its international solidarity in the face of external pressures.
