The Coordinating Committee of Cubans Residing in France announced today the call for the 18th Meeting of Cubans Residing in Europe (ECRE) to be held on October 23rd and 24th of this year in Île-de-France.
“Inspired by Martí’s thought and the commitment to defend the Homeland, the members of the Coordinating Committee of Cubans Residing in France” announced the regional meeting, according to a statement obtained by Prensa Latina.
This exchange will have exceptional historical significance, as it will be held within the framework of the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, whose guidance, ethics, and thought constitute the beacon of our principles, the text states.
“As we look back on the 20th anniversary of the first ECRE held in Paris, we will reaffirm our commitment to joining forces to continue working for Cuba,” the announcement states.
“It will also be an opportunity to address other crucial issues, such as the implementation of new laws of interest to our compatriots,” referring to some of the 176 economic transformation measures implemented on the island.
Furthermore, the statement emphasizes that the meeting will address “the active participation of Cubans residing abroad in the country’s economic development and the role of youth in defending our roots.”
In the current context, marked by the intensification of fascist aggression and threats against our people, the voice of the children of this independent and sovereign nation must rise louder than ever, affirms the document from the coordinator in France.
Therefore, we invite Cubans residing in Europe to participate in this Meeting, to continue building a homeland “with everyone and for the good of all,” the text concludes.
The most recent ECRE took place on October 24 and 25 of last year in Rome, Italy, and this time it is the turn of the Île de France region to host the event, which includes this capital and at least eight surrounding departments that make up Greater Paris.
