The fifth edition of the International Colloquium “Patria” concluded on Saturday in Havana after three days of analysis on best practices in communication and information dissemination.
The event, presided over by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, brought to a close several intense days of reflection, debate and collective work.

“We reaffirm the political, historical, and strategic nature of this meeting, which pays tribute to the victory at the Bay of Pigs and to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz,” said Rosa Miriam Elizalde, the event’s organizer.
“We condemn the use of algorithmic architectures, blockades, psychological warfare campaigns, information restrictions, and informational strategies of domination,” she added.
“What began a few years ago as a small communication space has now become a point of reference for those of us who see communication as a battleground of political resistance,” noted Yuniaski Crespo, head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, in her closing remarks.
For three days, Havana became a meeting point for those fighting against media manipulation and symbolic colonization.
Patria reaffirms the need to articulate a sovereign, critical, and organized voice for the Global South. Today, a platform, a network, and a work agenda are being consolidated that will extend beyond these three days.
