Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, denounced on Saturday that U.S. President Donald Trump is escalating his threats of military aggression against Cuba to a dangerous and unprecedented level, and warned that no aggressor, however powerful, will find surrender on the Island.

Through his official account on the social network X, the Cuban president urged the international community to take note of these threats and to determine, together with the people of the United States, whether such a drastic criminal act will be permitted to satisfy the interests of a small but wealthy and influential group, eager for revenge and domination.

The international community must take note and, together with the American people, determine whether such a drastic criminal act will be permitted to satisfy the interests of a small but wealthy and influential group, with a thirst for revenge and domination.

“No aggressor, however powerful, will find surrender in Cuba. They will encounter a people determined to defend sovereignty and independence in every inch of the national territory,” Díaz-Canel declared.

The Cuban President’s statements come after the US president asserted last Friday that Cuba would be taken “almost immediately” and suggested that an aircraft carrier could be positioned off the island’s coast upon its return from the conflict with Iran, arguing that the mere show of force would be enough to provoke a surrender.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla denounced on Friday that the new threat of military aggression, following the drastic strengthening of the economic blockade, elevates the aggression against Cuba to dangerous levels, with no other pretext than the desire to appease tiny elites who promise electoral and financial loyalty. The foreign minister affirmed that “Cubans will not be intimidated” and recalled the massive response of the people during May Day.
