“Out with Trump, we don’t want Trump in Cuba,” declared Senira Beledelli, a Brazilian member of the International Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba First of May, one of the international organizations that is reaffirming its support for Cuba amidst the tense national situation.

In a cultural exchange held in the central Parque de la Libertad, Senira Beledelli told the press that the support for the island, provided by 22 Brazilians and more than 150 other brigadistas from over 20 nations, is a way of giving back all that the Caribbean nation has given for many years in terms of international aid, impacting sectors such as health and education.

We are bringing medicines and other donations for the Cuban people, and we also want to learn more about the realities in the provinces, not just Havana, to extend aid and support during these difficult times, added the member of the José Martí Cultural Association RS Brazil and the Brazilian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes.

During the event, which was attended by authorities from the Communist Party of Cuba and the Matanzas provincial government, as well as the provincial delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the nearly 200 brigade members chanted slogans of support for the island and invoked the figure of the Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, considered a paradigm on the continent for his political work in favor of independence and social justice.

Children and young artists who are part of the Maravillas de la Infancia (Wonders of Childhood) sociocultural project, directed by María Eugenia Romero, participated in the event, as well as representatives from the territorial cultural office, mass organizations, and the general public.

The International Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba First of May, one of the displays of support from the international community amid the complex situation caused to the country by US sanctions, plans to visit centers and institutions of high cultural value in the city of Rivers and Bridges this afternoon, including the José White Concert Hall and the Pharmaceutical Museum of Matanzas, known as the French Pharmacy.
