The Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) has condemned the threats made by US President Donald Trump against Cuba and called for the mobilization of the people to defend our region as a zone of peace.
Faced with the failure to achieve his objectives through the blockade, sedition, and terrorism sustained for six decades, Trump is now announcing the use of military action, paradoxically under the pretext that Cuba constitutes a threat to US security, the PCCh warns.
The political organization condemns as grave and unacceptable Trump’s statements that his administration will “take over Cuba almost immediately after its military forces ‘finish the job'” in its war against Iran.
This confirms his decision to move to a new stage in the campaign of unilateral sanctions, with the purpose of imposing a change of government on the island from the outside and subduing the will and the right of the Cuban people to self-determination to build a socialist society, states a declaration from the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC).
Even though the United States’ withdrawal from the war against Iran, also arbitrarily unleashed, has an uncertain timeframe, its notification of an imminent military aggression against Cuba corroborates the attempt to impose domination by force against the island and the countries of the region, which it seeks to maintain as its “backyard.”
The Communist Party calls for the active mobilization of the peoples for the defense of our region as a zone of peace, for its right to self-determination and sovereignty.
A military aggression against Cuba would also be an aggression against the peoples of all of Latin America and the Caribbean, the declaration warns.
The CCP calls on President José Antonio Kast and the Chilean government to join in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
