Havana, May 13 (RHC) – Cuban baseball player Randy Arozarena had a perfect night in his team’s 10-2 victory over Houston in Major League Baseball, according to press reports today.
The native of Pinar del RÃo, Cuba, who plays for the Mexican national team, went 4-for-4 in the game, with three RBIs, a double, and a home run.
Arozarena raised his season batting average to .303; the home run was his fourth of the Big League season, and with the three RBIs, he now has 16 in the tournament.
A notable highlight of the game was that American catcher Carl Raleigh broke a 38-at-bat hitless streak.
The player, who finished second in the American League MVP voting last season, hadn’t had a hit since last April against Minnesota.
With the win, Seattle moves into second place in the American League West with a record of (21-22), just one game behind the Oakland Athletics, who lead the division with a record of (21-19).
