The Network of Cuban Residents in Latin America and the Caribbean expressed its rejection of another U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean Sea today in this capital.

The Network considered this action provocative and destabilizing, threatening the peace and sovereignty of the peoples of the region.

The Network of Cuban Residents, whose leadership is currently in the Dominican Republic, denounced in a statement that this military maneuver constitutes an act of direct aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro.

The group stated that this ploy “is part of the long history of imperialist interventions that seek to subject our nations to Washington’s hegemonic interests.”   The statement reaffirmed that the problems of Latin America and the Caribbean are resolved between Latin Americans and Caribbean people, without external interference or military pressure.

“Solidarity with the Venezuelan people is solidarity with all free peoples who defend their independence, their self-determination, and their right to shape their own destiny,” the statement emphasized.

The Network called on social organizations, popular movements, and progressive forces in the region to maintain unity and firmness in defense of peace, sovereignty, and Latin American and Caribbean integration.

“History has shown that our peoples are not intimidated by the threat of warships or the arrogance of those who seek to reimpose colonial chains,” the statement stated.

In reiterating its support for the Venezuelan people and government, the Network of Cubans in Latin America and the Caribbean expressed its confidence that the strength of dignity and the unity of the peoples will always be more powerful than any imperialist military deployment.
