Havana, July 31 (RHC) – Cuba will be present today in the two finals of the beach volleyball of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, in a day marked by the intensity of the competition and the heat of the Malecón Deportivo.

Just a few minutes ago, the Cuban women’s doubles team of Kailin Garrido and Maykelin Cardona secured their place in the final after defeating Mexicans Susana Torres and Abril Flores 2-1 in a hard-fought semifinal.

The Cubans started strong, taking the first set 21-18, but their opponents rallied in the second, winning 21-16 and forcing a tiebreaker. In the third set, Garrido and Cardona displayed greater efficiency and closed out the victory with a decisive 15-7.

The main court of the Malecón Deportivo once again became a stage for excitement, with athletes facing not only their rivals, but also the high temperatures and the physical demands of a discipline that combines power, endurance and precision on the sand.

In the men’s final, the Cuban duo of Eblis Veranes and Damián Gómez will seek gold against Mexico starting at 3:00 p.m. local time, while Garrido and Cardona will compete for the title against Puerto Rico at 5:00 p.m.

With both qualifications, Cuba hopes to close out a historic day in beach volleyball at Santo Domingo 2026 and add more successes in a discipline that demands maximum concentration on every point.
