An initiative called the Solidarity Catalog, “Solar Revolution 2026,” aims to raise funds to purchase solar panels for Cuba, a source close to the project highlighted in Barcelona.
Similarly, Solar Revolution (Eguzki Iraultza) is a working group formed in the Basque Country that aims to raise funds through the sale of items and vouchers for the acquisition and installation of solar panels in Cuba.
According to José Manzaneda, coordinator of Cubainformación, the proposal stems from a clear premise: “to contribute to guaranteeing energy sources for the Cuban people in a context marked by scarcity and blackouts, caused by the genocidal blockade imposed by the United States government.”
The Basque friendship association Euskadi-Cuba offers its support for the idea.
Among the products for sale are mugs, pens, tote bags, caps, and t-shirts with messages and images related to solidarity with Cuba. It is a way to transform each purchase into a concrete act of solidarity.
The campaign also includes the possibility of making a direct financial contribution through solidarity bonds, the source revealed.
Donations are requested up to the equivalent of a quarter of the cost of a 400-watt solar panel, a LiFePO4 battery, or a complete solar system.
The campaign denounces the scarcity and prolonged blackouts and points out their consequences for hospitals, health centers, schools, and families, while linking this situation to Washington’s economic embargo on the island. Its hardening.
Along with fundraising, the campaign incorporates a message of solidarity and resistance: “They will not be able to turn off Cuba!”, accompanied in Basque by “Ezin izango dute eguzkia blokeatu!” (“They will not be able to block the sun!”).
