Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has denounced on his social media profile the policy of maximum pressure and economic strangulation applied by the United States government against the island.
The foreign minister stated that this strategy constitutes an extension of measures adopted since the first term of the current US president, aimed at attacking the main sources of external income for the Cuban economy.
“They identify and ruthlessly attack the main sources of external income for the Cuban economy, to reduce the government’s capacity to provide basic goods and services, and thus provoke public discontent, a social explosion, and a change in the constitutional order,” the top Cuban diplomat declared in his post.
Among the coercive measures mentioned were the imposition by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other agencies of 24 fines on financial, insurance, travel, technology, and logistics entities from third countries, totaling more than $4.014 billion, for alleged violations of the economic, commercial, and financial embargo against Cuba.
He also recalled the island’s reinstatement to the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism in 2021 and 2025, as well as the prohibition on FINCIMEX and AIS processing remittances since September 24, 2020.
The island’s foreign minister cited the inclusion of the International Financial Bank on the List of Restricted Cuban Entities on January 1, 2021, and the imposition of sanctions against financial institutions linked to GAESA on June 23, 2026.
“Cuba is not a threat, the blockade is,” Bruno Rodríguez concluded, alluding to the current administration’s false narrative about Cuba.
