Havana, August 30 (RHC) – Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo placed fourth in the C1 200 meters at the 2026 Poznan World Sprint Canoeing Championships, which concluded today in Poland.
She clocked 45.67 seconds in a high-voltage final that brought together several of the top athletes in the discipline, confirming her status as a fixture among the elite.
Liudmyla Luzan of Ukraine won convincingly with a time of 44.40 seconds, followed by Canadian Sophia Jensen (44.90) and American and defending champion Nevin Harrison (45.04).
“Not satisfied, but happy, because this has been a year of many challenges. Onward to working and improving in every aspect,” wrote the darling of Costa Rica, a town in the Guantánamo municipality of El Salvador, on her Facebook profile.
“Next year will be much better. Grateful, as always, to everyone who contributed to this result, to those who supported me, to those who did their part, to my family, and especially to the Cuban Olympic Committee,” she emphasized.
With this Sunday’s result, Cirilo remains among the elite of Cuban sport, with a performance that includes a world title in Duisburg 2023 and an Olympic bronze medal in Paris 2024.
