34th National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Colombia concludes in Cali.

The 34th National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Colombia concluded on Tuesday with the adoption by its participants of a declaration in support of the island and against the blockade imposed by the United States.

During the final session, activists met in a plenary session where the conclusions of the working groups held the day before were discussed, and the action plan to be followed in the coming months to support the people and government of Cuba was also approved.

The president of the Committee of Friends of Cuba in Cali, Diego Guzmán, handed over the pro tempore presidency of the Solidarity Movement to the organization that will hold that distinction for the next year.

The meeting, held at the Sole Union of Education Workers of Valle del Cauca (SUTEV) building, had been taking place since last Friday under the slogan: “No More Blockade against Cuba, Enough is Enough!”

One of the activities held the day before was the forum “Updating the Intensification of the Blockade against Cuba and Continental Solidarity in Response.”  At that event, the general coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes, Norberto Galiotti, explained how Washington’s unilateral siege against Cuba is intensifying.

He told the attendees that to strengthen support for the Cuban people, it is necessary to increase unity and convince a greater number of people of the need to join the effort.

Norberto Galiotti stated that it is necessary to “open the doors of our homes to reach all popular sectors, to enamor them with the idea that a better world, a world without a blockade, a world with sovereignty, is possible.”

But Galiotti emphasized that this mobilization will only be achieved through unity, through the coordination of all solidarity efforts, and called for this undertaking to be undertaken with “revolutionary passion, with the passion of the love of the peoples.”

For his part, the national coordinator of the Venezuela-Cuba Friendship and Solidarity Movement, Jhonny García, noted that the Bolivarian country recently sent a ship to Cuba with 6,000 tons of essential products.

The activist stated that the Gual vessel opened the way for the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty shipping route.

García added that they are working with the Italian Association of Solidarity with Cuba to acquire construction supplies to assist families affected last year by the earthquake that struck the eastern region of the Caribbean nation.

“It’s about seeing how we break the blockade so that Cuba can continue investing in its development,” he stated.
