Havana, September 17 (RHC) – Real Betis salvaged a dramatic victory against Getafe in the Spanish first division (La Liga) today, with a lone goal from Moroccan winger Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.
The first half of the match saw few scoring opportunities for either side, with Manuel Pellegrini’s men dominating possession.
Abde opened the scoring for Betis in stoppage time, after a pass from Troy Parrot to the edge of the Getafe penalty area, which he used to beat the opposing goalkeeper.
In the second half, Getafe came out looking for an equalizer, producing several shots that troubled Álvaro Valles’ goal, but luck was not on their side and the ball wouldn’t go in.
As the match drew to a close, midfielder Mario Martin received his second yellow card and was sent off, leaving José Bordalás’s team with 10 men on the pitch.
With the victory, Betis reached 15 points in the current edition of La Liga and caught up with Real Madrid in second place in the championship, three points behind first place held by FC Barcelona, who lead the table with a perfect score of 18 points in six games.
