Havana, October 27 (RHC) – The Cuban national team will be the fourth member of Group E of the 2027 Women’s Volleyball World Cup along with Poland, Germany and Slovenia, according to the draw held by the International Federation (FIVB) on Monday.

The Cuban women’s volleyball team will play at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, co-host with the United States, from August 20 to September 5.

The 32 qualified teams were divided into eight groups of four, and will also compete in the elimination stage in Quebec City, Canada, as well as in Omaha, Nebraska, and Orlando, Florida, from August 20 to 25.

The final stage will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, the same venue for this sport at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 16, a tough challenge not only for Cuba but also for other contenders, given the presence of the world’s best volleyball players, all aiming to be among the top 16 teams to advance.

Italy, the defending champions, Brazil, Turkey, China, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and the hosts, the United States and Canada, make up a group of teams with considerable strength.

The Cuban team, ranked 26th in the world at the time of the draw, was at the bottom of the group, as its rivals are better positioned: Poland in fifth place; Germany in twelfth; and Slovenia in eighteenth. The challenge will be significant because the level of competition is extremely high, although there is still time to build expectations and prepare as this important tournament demands.
