Emily Puisseaux, an official from the Directorate of Multilateral Political Affairs, stated that Cuba’s victory at the UN is a reflection of the dedication of all Cuban diplomats.
Speaking from the island’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Puisseaux noted that she considers it a privilege to witness the outcome of the hard work put in by her professional colleagues — especially “in a year that has been so difficult and complex for our people.”
“The victory we achieved at the United Nations is a reflection of the dedication and sacrifice of our diplomats, not only in New York but all around the world,” she asserted.
She further emphasized that this also serves as recognition of the firm stance taken by the majority of nations in the face of pressure and blackmail from the “empire” — a fact that underscores the twofold significance of this victory for Cuba.
“In a context marked by such uncertainty, we have demonstrated the dignity and steadfastness of Cuban revolutionary diplomacy,” the official stated.
The diplomat noted that the coming months will be challenging for the Cuban people, particularly in terms of maintaining — as the island advocates — relations rooted in dialogue and cooperation.
She also affirmed that whatever has occurred, or may yet occur, in relation to the United States government will not intimidate the diplomacy of the Caribbean nation.
“We will remain faithful to the principles we uphold and consistent with the position we have maintained,” she concluded.
