Vuelta a España Ends in Chaos

by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, September 14 (RHC) – The 80th edition of the Vuelta a España ended 56 kilometers earlier than scheduled due to pro-Palestinian protests that invaded the streets along the route and prompted police intervention.

As had happened last week, it was impossible to complete the day’s stage, this time as the peloton was moving toward the finish line in Madrid.

A group of protesters halted the peloton, but attempts were made to restart the race until the organizers decided to divert the race to the Royal Palace Gardens, where the cyclists found shelter.

The streets of central Madrid near the finish line were clogged with downed fences and the presence of protesters, who objected to the presence of an Israeli club among the race participants.

The decision of the authorities is awaited to determine how the official classifications for the 2025 Vuelta a España will be determined.
