Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has denounced on his X account, the pressure, threats and blackmail by the U.S. government against sovereign nations to prevent international condemnation of the coercive measures imposed by Washington against the island.
Bruno Rodriguez said that the specific objective is to prevent statements of rejection of the US administration’s measures against Cuba during a session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for next week.
In his statement, the foreign minister affirmed that, as he had warned in a recent press conference and according to reports in the US media, the US foreign service is carrying out an unprecedented campaign to prevent the international community from denouncing the coercive measures imposed on Cuba.
Rodríguez maintained that the US Secretary of State is attempting to justify actions that, he asserted, are causing serious harm to the Cuban people, and warned of the risk of an escalation that, in his view, would have devastating consequences for both Cuban and American citizens.
The Cuban foreign minister also asserted that the White House intends to involve the rest of the international community in what he described as collective punishment against the Caribbean nation, and questioned the US authorities’ commitment to international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
«Cuba is not a threat. The blockade is,» the Foreign Minister concluded in his statement.
