The Venezuela-Cuba National Movement of Friendship and Mutual Solidarity denounced that five months have passed since the illegal kidnapping of the constitutional president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the deputy and first lady, Cilia Flores. The solidarity organization detailed that both popular leaders remain arbitrarily deprived of their liberty in a United States prison, where they were forcibly taken following the invasion of the South American nation.
The statement characterizes this act as a crude geopolitical maneuver executed by the Trump Administration, which seeks to unilaterally impose the law of the strongest over the self-determination of sovereign nations. The movement’s spokespeople emphasized that the aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of Public International Law and the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
In their letter, the grassroots committees categorically demanded the immediate cessation of all unilateral coercive measures, economic sanctions, and financial blockades that are part of the systematic war against the homeland. The group affirmed that the arbitrary detentions applied against Venezuelan institutions represent a desperate mechanism of colonialist subordination that will not succeed in breaking national dignity.
In this context of revolutionary resistance, the solidarity group also extended fraternal and combative greetings to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz on the occasion of his 95th birthday. The Venezuelan movements emphasized that the Caribbean leader’s trajectory represents a moral and heroic pillar entirely dedicated to the defense of peoples struggling for their emancipation.
The organization denounced in international forums the spurious legal maneuvers that the empire is attempting to orchestrate against the continent’s leaders, seeking to erase the example of historical loyalty sown by the socialist vanguards. Invoking the principles of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the statement affirmed that the Pentagon’s aggressions only strengthen regional political consciousness.
The unity movement reaffirmed that neither military kidnappings nor trials by North American powers will break the will of organized communities in Latin America. The popular brigades called for a permanent presence in the streets to consolidate international solidarity and demand unrestricted respect for Venezuelan sovereignty.
